Christmas Card Club

Three Cards ~~ 1 Stamp Set!!
I have loved experimenting with
the Mosaic Madness stamp set.
What a versatile stamp set.
The fourth card below is using a
technique called"starburst" and I
thought it worked well with the
Christmas star from the "Christ is Born"
stamp set (retired) along with an
easily made and cut out Christmas star
on our silver glimmer paper.

This is just a sample of the cards we will make this year during our Christmas Card Club.  If you come to all four classes you will have 40 beautiful, handmade Christmas cards before December.

We will make ten cards at each class ~ 5 of two designs.  The cost for each class including envelopes is $20. These particular cards are a little more labor intensive than the other four designs will be so the time it takes to make them should balance out.

Christmas Card Club
Session 1: Saturday, September 21 from 2-4 pm   RSVP by 9/17

Session 2: Friday, October 4 from 7-9 pm   RSVP by 10/1

Please bring your own SNAIL or tape runner to each class.  I will provide all other adhesives such as Tombow liquid glue, glue sticks, glue dots, dimensionals etc.
I have a small supply of SNAIL I can sell you at the class if you have run out of your own.

Please comment on this blog to hold your place for these classes by the Tuesday before each class.
Space is limited. I will prepare all materials on the Wednesday before the class that weekend so I can accept no cancellations after the Tuesday before.  I can always make you a take home craft kit if you find you can't make it.

Hope you can join me for some Christmas crafting soon.

It's Definitely Time For Some Crafting!!!

I am desperate for some craft time.  Creativity is calling my name.

Wow, I can't believe it is the middle of August.  This summer has come and gone, many kids are already back at school and I have been mainly MIA as far as Stampin' Up! and creating goes.  I had a really good couple of weeks in June and July and then life got in the way and there seemed to be no energy for creative time.

Since I have had so few events lately I am offering two FREE classes in August.

Friday, August 23 from 7:00 to 8:30 and Saturday, August 24 from 2:30 - 4:00.

These two days will be the same class repeated.  I will offer a total of 5 cards to make.  Work at your own pace and make as many as you can in an hour and a half.  If you don't finish on Friday you can always come back Saturday and finish the rest.

We will be using new colors, new stamp sets and new tools offered in the new annual and holiday Stampin' Up! catalogs.  Come, eat a snack or two and craft until time is up!

If you need a new catalog I have a few available~first come, first serve~free with a $50 purchase. The new Holiday catalog is absolutely free until my supply runs out.  If you don't get a hard copy there is always the ONLINE CATALOG.  Just click on Shop Now and you are ready to go.

Be checking this blog for the card designs I am offering at the FREE classes or even better, enter your email address on the right to get notified every time I post something new.

Also please let me know your are coming by Thursday, August 22 so I can have your materials ready for you.

Looking forward to seeing you next week.

Useful Crafting Tip #1

Have you ever put some SNAIL on your Card Stock, lined it up on the card base and carefully stuck it down just where you wanted it only to realize that you forgot to put the ribbon under the CS first?

No problem.  Just go to your bathroom and grab some dental floss.  Tear off a generous length and slip it under one corner of the top piece of CS carefully sliding it between the two layers and gently ease it back and forth until you have separated the CS from the base.

The best part is that you can put the ribbon where it belongs and replace the CS usually without adding any more SNAIL.

 Voila!

Did you know....An introduction to the Stamp-a-ma-jig

Did you know there is a tool for helping you get your stamped image exactly where you want it.  It is called a Stamp-a-ma-jig. Kind of a silly name but very useful.

This is what the Stampin' Up! Product Guide says about the
Stamp-a-ma-jig Features & Benefits
1. Allows for fast and precise stamp placement
2. Lets you place an image exactly where you want it, every time
3. Perfect for word and letter stamps
4. Sturdy plastic construction.
5. Includes washable plastic sheet
6. Black color exclusive to Stampin’ Up!
7. Nonskid base
8. Includes instructions
The Stamp-a-ma-jig comes with two pieces: the Stamp-a-ma-jig handle and the plastic imaging sheet.
The handle has a T-shaped top portion, which makes it easy for right-handed stampers and left-handed stampers. Instructions are included with the Stamp-ma-jig, but here’s a basic overview to help you understand how it works.
1. Align the plastic sheet in the T-shaped top of the Stamp-a-ma-jig, making sure that the corner of the sheet is placed squarely into one corner of the Stamp-ma-jig.
2. Stamp your image on the sheet, placing the stamp squarely in the corner of the Stamp-a-ma-jig.
3. Place the stamped plastic sheet on your project where you want the stamped image to be.
4. Keeping the plastic sheet in place, place the Stamp-a-ma-jig on the stamped corner of the plastic sheet.
5. While holding the Stamp-a-ma-jig in place, remove the plastic sheet, place the stamp in the corner of the Stamp-a-ma-jig, and stamp on your project.
If you already have a  Stamp-a-ma-jig have you ever thought to do this...?
Have a favorite stamp set that needs the Stamp-a-ma-jig?  Make permanent image sheets to keep in the stamp case. Cut Window Sheets into small squares and stamp images from that set on the sheets using the Stamp-a-ma-jig and StazOn ink. Put those Window Sheets in the stamp case, and then when
you go to stamp, you already have your stamps lined up on the Window Sheets. *This will only work with permanently wood mounted stamps*
Below is an example of how you can use your Stamp-a-ma-jig. To put the little bear in the cab of the vehicles I used my Stamp-a-ma-jig to place the stamp exactly where I wanted it.  No more guessing.  No more mistakes! Please contact me for more information on the Stamp-a-ma-jig.

Gingham Garden Birthday

I've always liked gingham and I really liked the Gingham Garden Suite from the first time I saw it.
All three of the DSP's on this card is from Gingham Garden.  The one thing that I wasn't quite sure about was the washi tape.  I have used it several times now and am starting to warm up to it.  It is a quick and easy accent for any project like on the one below.

I didn't have any ribbon for this one so a little washi tape across the middle and it was finished. A nice addition to solid color CS. I also, as usual, was a little slow on the uptake of the doilies. Be looking for more ways to use doilies coming up.

The evolution of an idea

When I got my pre-order from the brand new catalog a couple of weeks ago I was so taken with the new InColors that I set out to use them with the new stamp sets I ordered. Above is Crisp Cantaloupe cardstock with the Coastal Cabana ink on the tag.  I accented with pool party ribbon (sale-a-bration 2013.) A quick and easy card.

For the next card I kept the same color scheme but added some contrast by using the fancy fan embossing folder on the background piece of cardstock.  With the color on color of the Crisp Cantaloupe cardstock I think it is a nice effect.
By the time I got around to making some birthday cards I decided to put the little lacy doily behind the upper half of the circle rather than the lower half. Then to provide contrast on just the lower half of the card I dry embossed the bottom half only of the background cardstock. This time using Strawberry Slush. Instead of ribbon I used the new Washi tape from the Gingham Garden suite across the center of the card.

Which of the three do you like best?

By the way, if you would like to be able to see and buy new products before they are sold to the public become a part of my Stampin' Up! team.  You will get a discount on everything you buy and be among the first to enjoy all the new products.

Beautiful New InColors!

I am in love with the new InColors! Get these color names:  Baked Brown Sugar, Pistachio Pudding, Crisp Cantaloupe, Coastal Cabana, and Strawberry Slush.  The only InColor I didn't use on the front of this card is Strawberry Slush.  You can't see it but I did stamp the back with it. These colors remind me so much of carefree summer days of years gone by.

The stamp sets used are Mosaic Madness and Label Love. The punches used are the Mosaic, Artisan Label and Decorative Label.

You can start shopping in the brand new catalog on May 31.  Keep visiting this blog for more pics of creations made with new items. Or even better sign up to get it emailed to you! Just type in your address in the box under the blue shopping basket.

New Photopolymer Stamps from Stampin' Up!

We've searched long and hard for just the right material to be able to introduce completely clear stamping. And we've found it. We're excited to announce that we now have wood-mount, clear-mount AND photopolymer stamps! The new photopolymer will be an addition to our stamp line and will appeal to all types of stampers. Our top-quality photopolymer has just enough give to create a perfectly stamped image every time and with the introduction of our firm-foam pads, let's just say they're meant for each other! Photopolymer stamps will also be unique, fun designs that will inspire you and provide more versatile options you may not see in our traditional wood- and clear-mount stamp options.
What makes them so great?
  • They're entirely transparent for perfect placement every time!
  • They are durable. The photopolymer material is designed to last.
  • Can you say sticky? (Don't worry; in a good way.) These stamps stick amazingly well to our clear blocks.
  • They're age tested. They won't yellow or cloud up over time.
  • They use FDA, food-safe material. How far can you stretch your stamping creativity?
  • We could go on, but we'll let you try them for yourself.
They are clearly a great choice.
