Christmas Card Club (Class 4) The finale!

On December 1 we will have our last Christmas Card Club for 2012.  It has been so much fun!  Last night we met for class 3 and believe it or not I already have one of the cards designed for the next class.  I have been wanting to use this stamp image for a long time but could never find a way that pleased me and was not so involved that it would be difficult to make more than one.  I mulled it over for a couple of months and came up with this!

I used Midnight Muse card stock on a Whisper White card base, stamped the image and greeting with Versamark ink and heat embossed with silver embossing powder.  You may have noticed the silver glimmer paper layered with the Midnight Muse CS punched with the Decorative Label punch.  The glimmer paper sets off the silver embossing powder beautifully and spotlights the words.  Simple but elegant!

Now to come up with one last card...SO MUCH FUN!
If you want to join us for this last class.

One last Christmas card...

And here is the second Christmas Card we will make on Dec. 1. Thanks to Jettie for the use of her stamp sets Watercolor Winter and Four the Holidays.  The supplies used are Garden Green and Whisper White cardstock, Garden green, Old Olive, Crumb Cake, Early espresso and Raspberry Ripple ink, and a little Dazzling Diamonds to accent the holly berries.
Coming up in January we will be having a monthly Stamp-a-Stack.  Get stocked up on all the cards you need year round.  Be checking this blog for further information in December.

Christmas Card Club (Class 3)

Thursday is the third installment of my Christmas Card Class!  We have so much fun each time we get together.  This week we will be making these two cards.
The first one uses a little clever paper folding to make the Christmas trees and dry embossing.
The second one uses dry embossing as well plus heat embossing for the greeting.  Both cards use images from My Digital Studio (MDS) a favorite of mine right now.  I am currently making Christmas gifts with hybrid of MDS and my card making supplies.  Sorry, can't add pictures until after Christmas. The beautiful Very Vanilla velvet ribbon is from the Stampin' Up! clearance rack.  You might want to check out the deals there. Awesome!
Now to get started on designing the next andvery last 2012 Christmas Card Club scheduled for December 1.  Have fun stamping!

A grandson is a precious miracle!

I haven't been doing much stamping in the last week or so.  I have been visiting my daughter, son-in-law and my brand new grandson.  I get to stay a week to help out Mom and Dad and of course snuggle little Benjamin as much as I can.

Since I got here I have been working a lot on my trial version of My Digital Studio 2.  I started a newborn baby book that I will have printed before the 31% off sale is over (Sept 14) and made a couple of cute birth announcements. I've chosen my favorite one to share with you.

It is so easy to create when all you need is your computer.  I'm able to spend time with family and create at the same time.  It's a win-win.  I know I will definitely upgrade to MDS2.  I love the flexibility that this version has.  I look forward to creating many projects and with a new grandson I will have plenty of precious material to work with.

MDS ~ On the Go!

One of the things that have been keeping me busy this summer is the anticipation of the arrival of my first grandchild.  My daughter and son-in-law, Dawn & Matt, were graciously given a baby shower by some friends in Richmond. As my husband and I decided on a gift to bring to the shower I fell in love with the crib comforter set they had chosen for Benjamin's room. I immediately decided to make the gift card on MDS with a designer kit I had seen used in a You tube demonstration. "On the Go" has so many cute vehicles and background papers perfect for a little boy's room.  I copied a picture of the comforter on my computer and did my best to recreate it for the card and I have to say, I was thrilled with the result.
The next order of business was to actually buy the bedding set.  As I searched the internet for one in stock I quickly realized that it was no longer available.  What a disappointment!
The new quilt is also cute and it is waiting for his arrival in his nursery at this very moment but they still got the old quilt, in the form of my card which I still think is adorable.

Smashing Summer Starfruit!

I've got to admit...when the new Stampin' Up! In colors came out in June I thought they were all wonderful except for one.  You've guessed it, Summer Starfruit.
In the last couple of days I have been playing around with the new In colors.  During our July team meeting I won the drawing and got a cute little bucket full of Summer Starfruit card stock and  Patio Party designer series paper conveniently cut into  4 1/4 x 5 1/2 pieces.  I decided to make as many cards as I could using only my prize paper, whisper white card stock and 2012-2014 In color ink and I was really pleased with the results.
I was able to make 7 cards and still have a little leftover. It only took me a little over an hour! I found that all the In colors do complement each other and that I especially like Summer Starfruit and Midnight Muse together. For years I have seen challenges on websites and blogs that suggest limiting yourself to a certain color theme or design but have never really tried any of them.  I actually found that limiting myself in this way made the creative process a lot easier.  I will definitely use this strategy again and maybe even take one of those challenges. When I do you will be the first to know.

Just got back!

Just got back from our cruise to Bermuda!  It was kind of cold and rainy but enjoyed the trip anyway.  Suitcases are unpacked, laundry almost finished, I am ready to get started creating again.  When I got home I had my latest Stampin' Up! order waiting for me along with three customer's orders. I can hardly wait to dig into my new supplies and find out where it will take me.  I know I have a couple of specific cards to make for some friends and then I will start getting creative for my upcoming workshops. If you are interested in coming to my Beginning Stamping 101 class check my Stampin' Up website for dates and times.

These are the two cards we will be making tomorrow at my Saturday afternoon Stampin' Up! workshop.  The first one is a CASE on one that Jan Mata made last Saturday at her Stamp Camp.  Thanks, Jan!  The second one is my creation.  How can you go wrong with such a great stamp set combined with the wonderful matching punch?
